Jalandhar: Loud noises, similar to blasts, were heard by villagers at the strategically-located Pathankot air base and Unchi Bassi Ammunition Depot situated on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway this evening.

The noises were heard around 8.15 pm on May 8, around the same time when reports of an attack by Pakistan in Jammu and Rajouri began doing the rounds.

The Unchi Bassi Ammunition Depot is situated in Hoshiarpur district. A villager from the Mukerian sub division of Hoshiarpur district told The Wire that the noise was audible at a distance of 10 kilometres from Unchi Bassi. “Our village is 10 km away from the Unchi Bassi Ammunition Depot and when we heard the noise it was loud. Within minutes, the area went into a complete blackout and people rushed inside their houses,” the villager said.

People spotted drone-like lights in the Kamahi Devi village of Hoshiarpur district as well.

Some villagers also recorded videos which showed drone-like structures in the sky which could be identified from their red lights. Most were seen flying over the Unchi Bassi Ammunition Depot.
