For the first time in India, nine new Supreme Court judges, including three women, took their oaths on August 31. With these additions, the apex court will now have a total of 33 judges, including four women judges for the first time. Besides Justice Indira Banerjee, who was appointed in 2018, the newly appointed women judges are Justices Hima Kohli, B.V. Nagarathna and Bela Trivedi.
