New Delhi: At least 41 people were killed after a bus fell into a river in Lasbela of Balochistan province in Pakistan, early on Sunday, January 29, the DAWN newspaper has reported.
The bus, which is being called a ‘passenger coach’ in reports, originally had 48 people, according to Lasbela Assistant Commissioner Hamza Anjum, who spoke to DAWN.
Anjum said the vehicle crashed into the pillar of a bridge, careened into a river and then caught fire. The accident is suspected to have happened because the driver was speeding.
A child and two adults had been rescued alive, but one of them succumbed to injuries, Anjum said.
The bus was travelling from Quetta to Karachi, a distance of 688 kilometres.
