Fans trying to watch the opening game between Qatar and Ecuador on the Jio Cinema app complained of incessant buffering and breaks in playback, despite having excellent internet connectivity speeds.

New Delhi: As the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar kicked off on Sunday night with Ecuador defeating the host nation, fans of the sport in India were left fuming at the poor broadcast quality on the Jio Cinema app and Sports18 channel, with many taking to Twitter to express their frustration and disappointment.

A major complaint was regarding streaming on the Jio Cinema App, with users experiencing incessant buffering and breaks in playback, despite having excellent internet connectivity speeds.

One user suggested that changing the camera view option made things better.

Fans replied to a tweet by Jio Cinemas announcing Ecuador’s victory in the maiden match to express their disappointment. One user wrote. “Every 3 seconds it buffers”, while others postedmemes.

Users complained that the same problem persisted on the Sports18 channel, which garnered much scorn for constant interruptions. One fan humorously took a jab at both services.

Another user posted a sarcastic meme of a character from the Indian television series Khichdi.

While Jio Cinema tweeted that they were working on improving the streaming quality and urged fans to update their app for a better experience, complaints continued to pour in. Updating the app did not improve the quality, users said.
