While the Gen Z protests have changed mores, their aftermath continues. FIRs are being filed, protestors are being arrested and social media memes are being taken down. And a lot of data about the protestors has been captured.

“Has this database been created from a driver's license, passport, Aadhaar, or all of them together? What happens to the data? What is the legal authority on the basis this is being done? There is a high degree of opacity. But it has a chilling effect,” he said in a podcast discussion with Sidharth Bhatia.

“A government which says that it has immense popularity amongst young people,” but seems to be afraid. “Within half an hour of Jantar Mantar being vacated the walls were being whitewashed, the entire digital archive of social media too is suffering the same fate, students are being dragged out of hostels in Bihar.”

He added that many protestors and also their parents are feeling afraid.

“I've said it many times that this government doesn’t believes in the democratic tradition.”
