Kapil Sibal 
In this episode of Central Hall with Kapil Sibal, three experts discuss the unrest in Bangladesh and explore the roots of the crisis and implications for regional peace.
The experts underline that the turmoil is a result of “uneven growth and inequality” and suggest that young people, particularly students sensed that “opportunities are slipping” due to which they started the protests on the streets.
They underline that it was primarily “a people’s movement” and call it a “revolution on the streets” adding that it is wrong to look for “foreign hands or purely political explanations”.
Sibal is joined by Ambassador Shiv Shankar Menon, former diplomat and historian T.C.A. Raghavan and Suhasini Haidar, Diplomatic Editor of the Hindu.
Menon, a distinguished diplomat and strategist, with an illustrious career in the Indian Foreign Service. He is a Distinguished Fellow at CSEP, Visiting Professor at Ashoka University and Chair of the Ashoka Centre for China Studies.
Raghavan is the former high commissioner to Singapore and Pakistan. After his retirement he has emerged as a well known author with three well received books.
Haidar is veteran journalist, with over 25 years of experience covering global affairs. She has also worked at the CNN International from 1995-2005. Her expertise spans international relations, geopolitics, and strategic issues, with a special focus on India’s foreign policy and national security.
