New Delhi: In a series of interviews conducted throughout 2024, Karan Thapar engaged in thought-provoking discussions with distinguished guests, delving into the significant political, social, and economic developments unfolding in India and globally. Here are some of the most notable interview moments from the year:

  • Dhruv Rathee

The widely followed and admired YouTube video-maker, whose videos on dictatorship have together achieved over 50 million views, has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “70-80% a dictator,” adding that like all ‘tanashahs’ he is “a darpok”, insecure and lacking in confidence.

In this special interview, Rathee spoke about his childhood and upbringing, his training as a mechanical engineer at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, his marriage to his wife Juli Lbr and mentioned what motivates him to make videos and the extent of preparation and effort put into each of them.

  • Prashant Kishore

In this interview that ended on an angry note during the Lok Sabha polls, the well known election analyst had predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will comfortably win the elections adding that he expected the saffron party to get 300 seats like 2019, and perhaps a few more – which he defined as possibly 5-15 more – seats. On the other hand, he categorically said the Congress party cannot get even 100 seats.

  • Parakala Prabhakar

The economist and current affairs commentator drew attention to inexplicable and disconcerting discrepancies in the official turnout figures put out by the Election Commission in Maharashtra assembly elections which, he said, “question the legitimacy of the mandate”.

  • Dushyant Dave

In this interview, the renowned advocate underlined that by permitting surveys of mosques, former CJI D.Y. Chandrachud did a “great disservice ” and acted against the constitution. “I hope history does not remember Chief Justice Chandrachud, and I hope his legacy is completely forgotten as quickly as possible,” Dave said.
