New Delhi: In an interview to Karan Thapar in 2000-1, former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sarsanghchalak (chief) K.S. Sudarshan said that the “Indian constitution is alien to our ethos and culture” and made it clear that he doesn’t endorse or support it.>
“What we say is this constitution doesn’t reflect the basic ethos of this nation,” Sudarshan said, adding, “Many things from other constitutions have been added to it. It is not an evolved one.”>
When asked if it is alien to India’s character, the former RSS chief said, “True. It doesn’t reflect it.”>
Further, Sudarshan added that the RSS doesn’t “accept the concept of minorities,” underlining that no special rights are required for the minorities as envisaged in the constitution. >
“Constitution should be evolved. It should not be imposed on us,” he added.>
