Israel’s former Minister of Justice and Religious Affairs Yossi Beilin has accepted that Israel “is on the path of becoming a pariah state, like South Africa once was”. Beilin also says “I’m against this unneeded war”, pointing out that 70% of Israelis want to end it.

In a 22-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Beilin explains that the problem is that Prime Minister Netanyahu is determined to continue the war with Hamas because if he stops the war, the right-wing members of his coalition will desert him and his government would fall.
