In a discussion with The Wire's founding editor M.K. Venu, former trade negotiator and founder of the think tank Global Trade Research Initiative, Ajay Srivastava says post US-Iran war, India is now critically dependant on Russian crude, which forms 50% of our total crude import in July.

India cannot afford to buckle under US pressure on this, he says, adding that India has no choice but to revive it's manufacturing in middle-tech items in a focused way to remain competitive in global trade.
