Political scientist Christophe Jaffrelot says that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has transformed in the last decade as it has the full support of the Indian state now, unlike in the past. He says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressing the youth after the Cockroach Janta Party movement is aimed at wooing the young people, noting that the RSS even tries to attract the young in their shakhas. But the RSS is now seen as directly accountable for policy mistakes like in the education policy.

"There is no risk of being banned anymore. There is no risk of policies and the police... In fact, there is a kind of joint venture; there is a collaboration. The RSS-groomed activists and the official state apparatus work hand-in-hand," Jaffrelot says.
