Amid the revelations of the election commission's mismanagement, and the illegal decisions taken by chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Parakala Prabhakar, political economist and relentless campaigner against "vote chori" says the only option left is to disband the election commission and install another truly representative body which does not become an extension of the ruling party.

Prabhakar has previously called the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) process a "bloodless political genocide" aimed at mass disenfranchisement.

In an interview with The Wire's founding editor M.K. Venu, Prabhakar says opposition parties must refuse to participate in any elections until the current poll body is disbanded.
