Sacked During the Pandemic, 66 Staffers From Delhi Golf Club Await Justice

"We are waiting for a verdict from the sessions court or the labour court, but the verdict hasn’t come yet. We have no choice but to wait," one of the sacked staffers said.

Sixty-six employees working at the Delhi Golf Club have alleged that the club dismissed them without notice during the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020. In response, these workers knocked on the doors of the court. However, for the last four years, they have been waiting for the court’s decision.

Most of these workers are over 40 years of age, with some having 25 to 35 years of service at the golf club. However, they are currently unemployed, and four out of the 66 workers have passed away over the last four years.

A former golf club employee, Umesh, said, “We have been unemployed for the last four years after being dismissed without any notice. We have been facing huge difficulties financially and mentally also. We are waiting for a verdict from the Sessions Court or the Labor Court, but the verdict hasn’t come yet. We have no choice but to wait.”
