On the sixth episode of ‘The Wire Wrap’, The Wire‘s Jahnavi Sen is joined by lawyer Apar Gupta and The Wire‘s editor Seema Chishti to discuss the importance of the most recent electoral bonds data, which reveals which donors bought electoral bonds for which political parties.

On the same evening when this data was released, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged liquor policy scam case.

One link between these two situations has been revealed by Project Electoral Bond – watch the video for details.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has told the Union electronics and information technology ministry to stop sending WhatsApp messages under the aegis of ‘Viksit Bharat Sampark’.

These are messages that a very large number of people got on their phones – in India and abroad – after the Model Code of Conduct was in place. It contained a letter from the prime minister talking about the government’s accomplishment and asking for feedback. The EC received multiple complaints about the timing.

But where did the data come from?
