The Union cabinet has approved the report by the high-level committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind on the ‘one nation one election’ proposal that recommended simultaneous polls in the country to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies as well as local bodies (including panchayats and municipalities). However, no timeline has been provided for its rollout yet.

The Modi government has completed 100 days in power this week, however Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s days as the head of a coalition government has been marked by a series of rollbacks in this period.

Meanwhile Arvind Kejriwal has resigned as Delhi chief minister and decided to go back to the people to seek their mandate after facing allegations of corruption in the liquor policy case.
