In an interview to discuss both the prospects of a ceasefire and peace deal between Russia and Ukraine and India’s hopes of averting reciprocal tariffs, one of the United States' top analysts, Daniel Markey, said, “I can still imagine Russia saying no and pushing for more”, adding that if there is a ceasefire agreement followed by a peace deal then President Trump could be a serious contender for the Nobel Peace Prize and “might even deserve it”.

In a 18-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Markey, who is senior advisor on the South Asia Programme of the United States Institute of Peace, also spoke at length about India’s hopes of averting reciprocal tariffs by enthusiastically working towards a bilateral trade agreement and said that he believes “India can delay reciprocal tariffs”.
