Gershon Baskin, the negotiator who secured the release of Gilad Shalit in 2011 and also played a key role liaising with Steve Witkoff in the recently concluded Hamas-Israel negotiations, has said of Trump’s peace deal: “It’s huge. We can’t underestimate the importance of this moment. The war is over.”
Asked if there is a danger that now that the hostages have been released Israel might resume the war to finish Hamas, Dr. Baskin said there is no way that Trump and the American government would permit that.
The most interesting part of the interview is the extensive detail Baskin offers of the key role he played in direct communication with Trump’s emissary, Steve Witkoff. Watch the full interview.
