Watch | A Day After Darrang Violence, Protests Erupt Outside Assam Bhawan in Delhi

Within minutes of their arrival, protesters were detained by the Delhi police and taken to the Mandir Marg Police Station.

On September 24, student groups and activists protested outside the Assam Bhawan in New Delhi. The demonstrations took place a day after horrifying visuals of police brutality emerged from an eviction drive in the Dharrang district of Assam.

The visuals also show a photographer, said to be associated with the district administration, assaulting a man who appears to have a bullet wound in his chest.

Within minutes of their arrival, protesters were detained by the Delhi police and taken to the Mandir Marg Police Station.

The Assam government has ordered a judicial probe into the circumstances pertaining to the eviction drive in Dharrang.

The Wire‘s Seraj Ali covered the protests.
