Watch | As Law and Order Collapses in UP, Neither Journalists nor Women Are Safe

The Wire's Arfa Khanum Sherwani says two recent incidents highlight the collapse of the law and order situation in the state.

Journalist Vikram Joshi, who was seriously injured when he was shot on Monday night in the Ghaziabad area adjacent to Delhi, died during treatment on Wednesday morning. He was shot in the head by unknown assailants in front of his two daughters, days after he had registered a complaint against some men who had allegedly molested his niece. A woman immolated herself near Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s office a few days ago, upset that her land dispute case was not being heard. She also passed away. These incidents show that the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh is collapsing, says Arfa Khanum Sherwani.
