In his address to the diaspora in the US, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s divisive and hate-filled ideology in India.

While addressing the media at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., he took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over economic issues such as price rise and unemployment.

He also spoke about India’s declining press freedom, its relationship with China, and his disqualification as a Lok Sabha MP.

In March, Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership was terminated, after a court found him guilty of criminal defamation for his alleged remarks on the ‘Modi’ surname.
