The Lok Sabha passed the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 on Monday night with 311 votes in favour of the Bill and 80 votes against. The Bill seeks to provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan after facing religious persecution.
