Pradeep Kurulkar, a DRDO official, was apprehended by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in the first week of May. Kurulkar is accused of sharing sensitive defence-related information with a Pakistani agent through WhatsApp in exchange for nude photos. The court deemed the charges against him as serious and stated that further interrogation was necessary for a comprehensive investigation.
During a press conference, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera expressed grave concern over Kurulkar’s arrest and alleged that it exposed the “anti-national face” of the RSS.
“Pradeep Kurulkar, an active RSS volunteer leader and Director of R&D (Engineering) at DRDO, has been detained by the Maharashtra ATS for spying on behalf of Pakistan. This case reveals the falsehood and pretence of the RSS being a self-proclaimed nationalist organisation,” he asserted. Khera further demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah clarify the nature of Kurulkar’s relationship with the RSS, given the implications for national security.
The RSS has not yet responded to the claims.
According to ATS officials, the scientist allegedly maintained contact with an agent linked to a “Pakistan Intelligence Operative” through WhatsApp and video calls, indicating a potential honeytrap situation. Watch the video to know more.
