As outrage grows over the alleged Ram Mandir fund theft, the controversy recently took a new turn in Ayodhya. Lawyers of the Faizabad Bar Association announced they will not represent the accused, calling the alleged fraud a moral betrayal. "Every Ayodhyawasi feels ashamed," says advocate Raj Kapoor Singh, insisting that no member of the Bar should defend those accused in the case.

The association has also resolved to impose a Rs 5 lakh fine on any lawyer who chooses to appear for the accused. But not everyone agrees. District court lawyer Gautam Pandey argues that the right to legal defence is a fundamental constitutional guarantee, recognised by both the High Court and the Supreme Court.

Is this a stand for justice or a challenge to the principles of the legal system?

Watch Akanksha Kumar's ground report from Ayodhya as lawyers weigh in on the Ram Mandir fund theft case and the debate it has sparked.
