India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. Yet, it is a country that ranks 111 out of 125 countries in terms of ‘hunger’. According to the recently released Global Hunger Index Report 2023, India performed worse than its neighbours. Only some of the very small nations of Africa were ranked worse off than India. The Indian government refused to accept the report, saying its methodology was faulty. When we put those objections to the agencies which made the reports, they explained how the objections do not hold much water, and how out of all the countries ranked, only India had raised objections.
