With the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections on the horizon, the campaign is heating up in India’s most populous state. The Wire‘s Arfa Khanum Sherwani interviews Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief O.P. Rajbhar, a former ally of the BJP and a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government, who has now joined hands with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party. They discuss the role of smaller political parties in the election and what SBSP bring to the table. Rajbhar says that his party’s goal in the election is to oust the BJP, which he says has used marginalised communities for political gains. Watch the video for more details.
