In an interview given to a YouTube channel, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey made serious allegations against the Narendra Modi government. Dorsey alleged that the Modi government pressurised Twitter to regulate content in a specific manner during the farmers’ protest.

Dorsey said he was forced by the government to block certain Twitter accounts, including those of journalists. The government he said warned him of dire consequences, including shutting down Twitter and raiding the homes of its employees in India, if he did not fall in line.

Over these allegations, The Wire spoke to senior Congress leader Pawan Khera, who is also the chairman of the party’s media and publicity department.

“Open any television channel these days, you will get to know how they [Modi government] are running propaganda and showing only one side. Now, the government is interfering in the functioning of social media, which is said to be a neutral space for all. Social media is a space where anyone can share their views freely, but the government is trying to suppress them,” said Pawan Khera.
