Coal and steel town Asansol goes to polls on April 29. Playback singer Babul Supriyo of the BJP is the sitting MP and his main competitor is prominent actress Moon Moon Sen of the TMC. CPI(M) once held great sway in Asansol but is now weak in the region. The anti-Muslim violence that took place in Asansol in March last year and the steady decay of the coal industry in the region are the two major issues that’ll determine which way the vote goes.
