Note: This video was originally published on April 24, 2019 and is being republished on July 29, 2019. On July 28, 2019, a car that the victim was travelling in was hit by a truck, leaving her in a critical condition as of July 29, 2019.

In April 2018, BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar from Unnao was arrested for kidnapping and raping a woman only after the Allahabad high court intervened in the matter.

The father of the victim was then brutally beaten to death, allegedly by the Sengar’s brother in Makhi and the uncle of the victim has been jailed. Sengar claimed that the opposition had fabricated the story in order to defame him and stall his political career. The BJP backed him until the public outrage became too much to handle.
