A three-day strike by power department employees in Uttar Pradesh affected normal life in the state. Most hospitals in the state were hit by power outages, while some managed with generators.

Starting from 10 pm on Thursday, March 16, the power sector employees were on strike demanding the government resolve their concerns. The government invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against protesters and warned that it would slap the National Security Act (NSA) if they don’t resume their duties.
