The graves exposed by rains caused alarm and panic among residents, who feared that the bodies would be of COVID-19 patients.

In Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, more than 900 dead bodies were buried on the river banks. It is estimated that 350 bodies were similarly buried in Kannauj, 400 in Kanpur and 280 in Ghazipur. These graves were exposed by rains, causing alarm and panic among residents, who feared that the bodies would be of COVID-19 patients. The Wire discusses the issue in today’s bulletin.
