As the poll results were counted in Bengal, the cloud of the fact that the Bengal polls were to act as the litmus test of whether there is yet any hope in India remaining an electoral democracy remained. The question we need to ask ourselves now is whether this election was a verdict of the people at all. Or is this an instance of the people being overhauled instead of the government?
