New Delhi: The Mumbai Press Club on Saturday issued a statement supporting those women journalists who have in recent times accused some individuals in the profession along with certain other “prominent personalities.”

Stating that it condemns such acts against women colleagues, it has called for “strict action” from employers and law enforcement agencies. “The issue needs a comprehensive debate which will not only discuss a way forward but also find effective solutions,” the statement says, adding that the Mumbai Press Club will organise such an event shortly.” It has also solicited suggestions from its members.

In the last two days, several women from the media have come forward, accusing newspaper editors and journalists of sexual harassment.
