New Delhi: Thirteen Indians are among 16 crew members missing after an oil tanker capsized off the cost of Oman on June 16.

Reports indicate that a search is underway. There are three Sri Lankan nationals in the missing crew.

Oman’s Maritime Security Centre has posted on X saying that the oil tanker capsized at the southeast of Ras Madrakah. The tanker had the flag of Comoros, an east African nation.

The vessel which capsized was ‘Prestige Falcon’, the Centre said in a later post.

In the same post it identified the nationalities of the crew.

Search and rescue operations were “initiated with the relevant authorities,” it added.

The vessel was headed for Aden in Yemen, where it was scheduled to arrive on July 18, the website Marine Traffic has reported. The vessel departed from the Hamriya Port in the UAE on July 9.
