New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has sparked controversy by sharing an AI-generated video showcasing a transformed Gaza Strip, envisioning it as a luxurious tourist destination. The video, dubbed “Trump’s Gaza,” features skyscrapers, children playing amidst dollar bills raining down, and even a golden statue of Trump himself.

The video shared by Trump on social media platform Truth Social also includes appearances by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and entrepreneur Elon Musk. Netanyahu is seen relaxing with Trump near a swimming pool, while Musk enjoys hummus on Gaza’s beach. The US president is also shown dancing in a nightclub, while one of the towers in the envisioned “Trump’s Gaza” is shown with an inscription with the same name, “Trump Gaza”.

It begins with a title, “Gaza 2025, What Next?” before transitioning to a stark portrayal of the city in ruins, bearing the scars of the ongoing conflict. However, the scene quickly shifts to a futuristic vision of Gaza, where children are seen entering a sleek, modern metropolis reminiscent of Dubai’s iconic skyscrapers.

The video’s soundtrack features lyrics praising Trump’s vision for Gaza, promising a “golden future” and “brand new life”. “Donald Trump will set you free, bringing the life for all to see, no more tunnels, no more fear, Trump’s Gaza is finally here. Trump’s Gaza is shining bright, golden future, a brand new life. Feast and dance; the deed is done. Trump Gaza number one.”

This move comes on the heels of Trump’s earlier remarks about the US taking over Gaza and transforming it.  “The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too… We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site,” Trump had said. “We’re going to develop it, create thousands and thousands of jobs, and it’ll be something that the entire Middle East can be very proud of.”

The UN Human Rights Office has warned that Trump’s idea is against international humanitarian law.

Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri called the plan “ridiculous and absurd,” warning it would generate chaos and tension in the region.

In response to Trump’s remarks, Palestinian leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state solution, with Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) Secretary-General Hussein al-Sheikh emphasising the need for security, stability, and peace in accordance with international law.

“The Palestinian leadership affirms its firm position that the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy and international law, is the guarantee of security, stability and peace,” he said on X.

Besides India, Germany, China, Iran, Turkey, Russia, Norway, Spain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and France are among the growing number of nations who have rejected Trump’s proposal to take over the Gaza Strip.
