Day 105 of US-Israel War on Iran: Araghchi Says Deal ‘Has Never Been Closer’; Sharif Says Text of Pact Agreed On
New Delhi: One-hundred-and-five days after the US and Israel launched their strikes on Iran and triggered the ongoing West Asia conflict, Tehran and key mediator Pakistan have said that peace is closer than ever, with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also saying that the final text of a deal has been agreed upon.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump cancelled new strikes on Iran two days after the US and Israel resumed attacks, claiming that Washington and Tehran have reached a "great settlement" and that a “time and place of the signing” are “to be announced” soon.
On Thursday (June 12), Trump had issued a threat in a post on Truth Social that the US would be "hitting Iran very hard tonight" and “taking Kharg island … in the not-too-distant future”. Iran’s top joint military command had earlier announced that it has “completely” closed the Strait of Hormuz amid renewed military escalation.
Meanwhile, an attack by the US military on a tanker off the coast of Oman killed three Indians onboard. Another ship, MT Jalveer, was also attacked but all the 22 Indian crew members have been evacuated ashore.
