Day 144 of US-Israel War on Iran: IRGC Reports 'Massive Fires' on Two Tankers, Claims Attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait

As the US-Israel war on Iran enters its 144th day, the US has continued its bombardment of Iran for the 10th consecutive night, which resumed after US President Donald Trump declared the fragile interim peace deal between the two nations null and void on July 8. Explosions have been reported in the Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Chabahar, Shiraz and Konarak regions of Iran, with Trump proclaiming that Iran will pay "many times over" for deaths of American soldiers who were killed during the conflict.

Meanwhile, Iran has continued its retaliatory attacks across the Gulf, targeting US missile systems in Kuwait and hitting a tanker off coast of Oman. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday (July 21) have reported that "massive fires" broke out on two oil tankers that were attempting to "pass through the unsafe southern route in the Strait of Hormuz."

The IRGC statement, carried by the IRIB state broadcaster, further warned shipping companies to stay away from routes it described as dangerous, in spite of the US military's "false information." "It is obvious that as long as America’s evils continue in the region, the Strait of Hormuz will be closed, and not even a drop of oil, gas, or a package of chemical fertiliser will be exported from the region," it said, reported  Al Jazeera.

Qatar, a US ally, in letters sent to the UN Security Council and the UN secretary-general, have sought compensation from Iran for damage inflicted by what it described as repeated Iranian attacks on the country. The letters reportedly cited the July 7 attack on the Qatari tanker Al Rekayyat and a missile attack on Qatar on July 12, according to Al Jazeera.
