New Delhi: The crisis in West Asia triggered by the US and Israel’s war on Iran entered day 64 on Saturday (May 2). Last evening, Iran has reportedly handed over its latest proposal for negotiations with the United States to mediators in Pakistan. However, US President Donald Trump rejected it, saying he was still not satisfied while blaming Iran’s “fractured” leadership.

“They want to make a deal, I’m not satisfied with it, so we’ll see what happens,” Trump told reporters Friday at the White House, without elaborating on what he saw as its shortcomings.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi had held a flurry of calls with many of his regional counterparts, including from Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Azerbaijan, to brief them on his country’s latest initiatives to end the war, according to his social media.

Meanwhile, in his latest briefing, Trump also said the US Navy was acting “like pirates” in carrying out Washington’s naval blockade of ‌Iranian ports during the US-Israeli war on Iran. He was referring to the recent seizure of Iranian ships and cargo by US forces near the Strait of Hormuz.
