New Delhi: The US-Israeli war on Iran has entered the 84th day with Tehran still deliberating on the United States’ response to its 14-point plan to end the West Asia crisis, which President Donald Trump declared as ‘totally unacceptable’.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio voiced hope for progress, as he looked to Pakistani mediators to help advance efforts to strike an agreement. Field Marshal Asim Munir is due to arrive in Tehran for talks.

An Islamabad-mediated ceasefire had on April 8 halted the attacks briefly, but negotiations between Israel and the US and Iran have so far failed to yield a lasting peace agreement.

Meanwhile, NATO’s European members will attempt to sound out Washington as Rubio will attend a foreign ministers’ meeting in Sweden on Friday.

The meeting of diplomats precedes a NATO leaders’ summit in July, amid uncertainty over if the stalled US efforts to broker an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict will resume.
