Journalist Couple, Their Children Among Five Scribes Killed in Gaza as Israel Escalates Bombardment

At least 38,098 people have been killed in the last nine months in Gaza as a result of Israel’s military offensive, while more than 87,000 people have been injured.

New Delhi: At least five journalists have been killed as a result of attacks mounted by the Israeli forces in Gaza. The deceased included a journalist couple and their children.

With bombings and airstrikes increasing in the region, the Government Media Office of Gaza said on Saturday (July 6) that three journalists in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the centre of the territory were killed in separate Israeli strikes while and two scribes were killed in Gaza City, reported Al Jazeera.

With the latest killing of the five scribes, the total number of media workers killed since the current war erupted on October 7 rose to at least 158.

The journalists who were killed in Nuseirat were identified as Amjad Jahjouh and Rizq Abu Ashkian. Both of them were from the Palestine Media Agency. Another journalist, Wafa Abu Dabaan from the Islamic University Radio in Gaza was also killed.

Abu Dabaan was married to Jahjouh, and their children were also killed during the strike, reported Al Jazeera.

At least 10 people were killed in the attack on Nuseirat.

In another incident, Palestinian journalists Saadi Madoukh and Ahmed Sukkar were also killed on Friday after an Israeli raid that targeted a home of the Madoukh family in the Daraj locality of Gaza City.
