New Delhi: The Union Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday (March 1) issued an advisory for foreign nationals stuck in India to contact the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for visa extensions in light of the Israeli-US attacks on Iran.

“All foreign nationals in India, who have had to change their travel plans due to the ongoing developments in the West Asia region and need assistance with extension of their visa or to regularise their stay, are requested to contact the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office ( FRRO). The FRRO concerned will help with necessary formalities. For contact details of FRRO , you may visit https://boi.gov.in/,” the advisory said.

On Saturday, major West Asian airports were shut after the strikes on Iran and its retaliation. Airports in Dubai, Qatar and Kuwait were hit as Iran launched retaliatory strikes, Reuters reported, while other West Asian countries closed their air space, stranding travellers.

How many foreign travellers have been affected by the crisis is not yet known.

Air India announced 22 cancellations on Sunday, taking the total number of cancellations announced so far to 50, news agency PTI reported.
