The EU and America should stop entertaining illusions that self-styled Chinese and Indian peace brokers, upholding their own national interests, can cajole an aggressive Russia into making peace.

Due to the political expediency of centrist parties, bigoted nativist parties in Western Europe could potentially gain control of the European Parliament, for which elections are scheduled to be held from June 6 to 9. 

India's stance in the Russia-Ukraine war, like many non-Western nations, seems to have been guided by national interests or political proclivities rather in any belief of a lofty ideal such as territorial integrity of Ukraine.
