Borders barely exist for these white bodies; rather, borders are lived as a hot summer inconvenience of queues at airport security. But for the dark bodies carrying their Global South passports, the Mediterranean is a humiliating border.

By dubbing all countries in the West Asian and North African region as 'Islamic', religion becomes the only lens through which to view the region, erasing the social and political diversity that lies within.

What is dangerous is not the uncertainty; it is the desire to not speak to those with varying opinions that is dangerous.
