The second part of a film by Care Earth Trust and Society for Conservation Biology explores fisherfolk perspectives and the challenges they currently face. The conservationists were first introduced to their daily lifestyles in earning wages, but soon came to realise that, thanks to increased competition in buffer zones of the biosphere reserve, these people are not able to get even minimum wages. As a result, many resort to smuggling activities to make enough.

Additionally, government officials are often faced with hostility and resistance when confronting such groups. A few others, however, seem to be tired and more willing to diversify into non-fishing practices or adopt sustainable methods to lead more satisfied lives. But such alternatives are only implemented in the central zones of Mandapam and Ramanathapuram, highlighting how existing solutions can't keep up with the grand scale of the problem in the Gulf of Mannar.
