New Delhi: Maoist leader Khobad Ghandy, on Friday, was acquitted of all terror charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) by the Patiala House Court.

Ghandy -- who has been in prison since 2009 after being arrested by Delhi Police on suspicion of being a member of the banned Communist Part of India (Maoist) -- however was still convicted by the court on charges of cheating and forgery.

According to IANS, "Ghandy was acquitted under Section 20 & 38 of UAPA", but was still convicted of "cheating, forgery and impersonation under the Indian Penal Code".

Last year, The Wire covered Ghandy's treatment as a prisoner in Tihar Jail. He had, at the time, claimed that he was in failing health and was not being treated accordingly.
