Delhi Polls: BJP Unveils First List of Candidates; Parvesh Verma to Contest against Kejriwal

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (January 4) has released its first list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls, scheduled to take place in February.
The list features some notable names, including former west Delhi MP Parvesh Verma, who will contest against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency.
Another key candidate is former south Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, who will face off against chief minister Atishi from the Kalkaji constituency. Meanwhile, former AAP minister Kailash Gahlot has been fielded from Bijwasan, a departure from his traditional turf of Najafgarh.
In a surprise move, the BJP has dropped Gandhi Nagar MLA Anil Bajpayee and instead given a ticket to former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely. This development is likely to have significant implications for the party's strategy in the upcoming polls.
Other notable candidates include:
- Dushyant Gautam will contest from Karol Bagh.
- Manjinder Singh Sirsa will contest from Rajouri Garden.
- Ashish Sood will contest from Janakpuri.
- Satish Upadhyay from Malviya Nagar.
- Vijendra Gupta from Rohini.
The Delhi Assembly polls are scheduled to take place in February, with all 70 constituencies up for grabs.
