Prime minister Modi visited Russia in his first visit after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The visit saw Modi hugging Russian president Vladimir Putin-a move that has generated outrage from the US and Ukraine. In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district five soldiers were killed on July 8 after a militant attack. Leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi visited Manipur earlier this week-his third visit since the violence began in the northeastern state in May, 2023 and has urged Modi to pay a visit. BSP’s Tamil Nadu president K. Armstrong’s murder has raised questions of law and order failure under the DMK government.
