New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have joined the world leaders in condemning the assassination attempt at former US president Donald Trump.
Modi took to X (formerly, Twitter) to note that he is “deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump”.
“Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured and the American people,” said Modi.
Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, said “such acts must be condemned in the strongest possible terms”. “I am deeply concerned by the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. Such acts must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Wishing him a swift and complete recovery,” he wrote on X.
US President Joe Biden also condemned the incident. “There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it,” he said.

Newly elected UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was “appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s rally”.

Canadian President Justin Trudeau said he was “sickened” by the shooting at Trump. “I’m sickened by the shooting at former President Trump. The former US president was shot at during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13. The US secret service, in a statement on X, said that the shooter had been “neutralised”. The bullet is said to have pierced the upper part of Trump’s right ear and the Republican presidential candidate was “doing well” after the shooting, his team said.
