New Delhi: The recently-announced results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) have resulted in a large number of medical aspirants and their families raising multiple objections and alleging discrepancies, even suggesting alleged question paper leak.

Some of the aspirants have been demanding the cancellation of the examination, after its results were announced on June 4, reported The Indian Express.

The parents of the aspirants have raised objections over the fact that 67 students bagged the perfect score of 720/720.

The parents have alleged that of the total number of students who got full marks, seven students have seat numbers from the same sequence, and belong to Haryana, which doesn’t rule out the chance of them being from the same centre, reported The Times of India.

“NTA received few representations and court cases from candidates of NEET (UG) 2024 raising concerns of loss of time during the conduct of the examination on 05.05.2024,” the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the examination, said in a statement.

The NTA added that considering such cases, a normalisation formula devised by the apex court was implemented, and candidates with loss of time in the examination were compensated with grace marks.

“In 2023, only two students had scored 720/720. Whereas a year before that in 2022, nobody had a perfect score. In fact, the highest score was 715/720 in 2022. And this year, there are so many students with perfect scores,” one of the parent Brijesh Sutaria, who is also a guide for medical admissions, told The Indian Express.
